The Corning Museum of Glass

The Corning Museum of Glass, off I-86 exit 46 following signs to 1 Museum Way, is home to one of the world's most comprehensive and largest glass collections, spanning 35 centuries of glassmaking. Galleries showcase everything from large-scale contemporary sculpture to ancient Egyptian glass and delicate Venetian glass. Hands-on exhibits explain the science of glass in the Innovations Center. The Hot Glass Demo presents live, narrated glassblowing demonstrations by master glassblowers. Shows run continuously throughout the day in the Amphitheater Hot Shop, offering 360-degree views of the glassmaking process. Visitors also can watch live flameworking, glass breaking and optical fiber demonstrations. Hands-on “Make Your Own Glass” experiences are offered for a fee at The Studio. Food is available. Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
