Founded in 1719, Litchfield is noted for its many fine Colonial houses, as well as for being the birth site of Harriet Beecher Stowe. The town also is the home of the first law school in the country, founded in 1784 by Judge Tapping Reeve. One of Reeve's first law students was his brother-in-law, Aaron Burr, who became Thomas Jefferson's vice president and killed Alexander Hamilton in a duel. Learn More...
