AAA Dares You...
You're probably wondering, "What is there for me to do now? My teen is several months away from getting their permit." Well, that may be the case, but you can do a lot during this time. In fact, start by attending AAA's new workshop called Dare to Prepare — and bring your teen! Dare to Prepare is a fun and exciting way to help your family prepare for the learning-to-drive process. An interactive workshop, Dare to Prepare targets issues that you and your teen will face as they move from the passenger's seat to the driver's seat. The program focuses on concepts and messages that may not necessarily be covered in traditional driver's education courses, such as:

If you're like most parents, the thought of your teen becoming a driver is a scary one. In fact, you're probably electing to not even think about it until a few months before they are eligible for their permit. Well, if that's the case, you could be in for a bumpy ride! Start preparing well in advance and plan on being an active participant in your teen's driving learning curve — your role is more important than you may know.
A quick question for you — what do you think is the leading cause of death for teens? Well, it might surprise you to know that it's traffic crashes! In fact, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that in 2005, there were 7,640 young drivers between the ages 15-20 killed in traffic crashes.
