Overall Observations
Can a single model be muscular, stylish, and smart? When it’s the Audi
e-tron Sportback, the answer is definitely yes. For starters, the midsize
Sportback has athletic lines reminiscent of a traditional European
sports sedan. A dual-motor all-electric powertrain (402 hp) and
all-wheel drive provide the performance to back up those dynamic
good looks. Acceleration is strong, and the standard adjustable air
suspension’s balance of a smooth ride and responsive handling is
above reproach.
Standout "smart" elements include a strong complement of
advanced safety features, DC fast-charging capability, 4-zone
automatic climate control, and available high-tech LED headlights and
cornering lights that use more than a million micromirrors each to light
the way around corners. The roomy passenger cabin straddles the line
between sleek and sumptuous, with a clean design and posh materials
like quilted leather upholstery. Comfort is another hallmark, from
heated and ventilated front seats to a remarkably hushed ambience.
Downsides are few but not insignificant: an unimpressive driving
range (218 miles), a difficult-to-use infotainment interface, some
interior fitments that lack a premium feel, and pricey options packages
($16,000) and overall price ($90,640)
