Overall Observations
People who’ve done well financially don’t squander
their money, which is a strong argument in favor of
the Genesis G80. This large luxury sedan offers most
everything you’d expect in a high-end automobile,
at a price thousands less than comparable European
models. The G80 was completely redesigned for 2021. Its exterior
design is a bit polarizing.
Acceleration from the 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder (300 hp) is
satisfying. The ride quality is smooth and comfortable, if not quite on a
par with class leaders. Fuel economy is decent: 25 mpg in combined
driving. But more engine, tire, and road noise get into the cabin than
you'd expect with a luxury sedan.
The cabin has plenty of room both front and rear, but at 13 cubic
feet, the trunk is on the small side. Standard amenities include heated
and ventilated front seats, a 15-inch touch screen, and GPS navigation.
We found the infotainment system unintuitive and difficult to use, and
rear visibility is limited. The G80 also has a host of advanced tech and
safety features, including LED headlights with auto high beams, and an
excellent factory warranty.
