Overall Observations
The iconic Honda Accord has been a staple in the midsize sedan
category for decades. The hybrid variant adds excellent fuel efficiency
to the standard Accord’s many strengths.
The Accord’s hybrid powertrain is built around a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder
engine mated to an electric motor (212 hp total). Gas-electric
transitions are seamless, the handling is confident, and the ride is
smooth and comfortable.
Our test car’s spacious, tranquil cabin was filled with lots of
desirable technology, including a wireless device charging pad and
heated and ventilated front seats. LED headlights and a complete array
of advanced safety features come standard. The 17-cubic-foot trunk’s
capacity can be expanded by way of split-folding rear seat backs.
Perhaps the best news, though, is that the Accord Hybrid’s base price
is only about $1,200 higher than the standard Accord’s.
There are, however, a few negatives: Both the interior design and
the infotainment system are in need of updating, rear headroom could
be improved, and rear visibility is impeded by a tall rear deck.
