Overall Observations
you’re at all into cars, Pathfinder will be a familiar name. The midsize
3-row crossover debuted in 1990 and, after a year’s hiatus in 2021 and
a full redesign, entered its eighth generation in 2022.
The new Pathfinder’s sleeker exterior styling and more upscale
cabin materials are a big plus. Just 1 drivetrain is available: a V6 engine
mated to an automatic transmission. Even the base S trim offers
lots of desirable standard features, such as push-button start, LED
headlights with auto high beams, 3-zone automatic climate control,
and a host of advanced safety features.
The Pathfinder’s roomy cabin is a pleasant place to spend time:
It’s easy to get in and out of, has comfortable seating, good legroom
front and rear, and good visibility all around. Third-row seating is
cramped, though.
The Pathfinder’s driving experience could use some improvement,
however: The steering feels disconnected and numb, and passengers
will definitely notice drivetrain harshness and vibration, especially on
rough roads. Fuel economy is subpar as well.
