Overall Observations
The Audi Q4 e-tron, an attractive compact electric SUV, came on the scene in 2022. Halfway through 2024, Audi simplified and improved the Q4 lineup. Now there’s a single model, the Q4 55, which has more power, better range, quicker DC fast charging, improved steering and suspension, and standard AWD.
The Q4’s dual motors (335 hp) provide effortless power and torque. The Q4 handles well and delivers a smooth ride in everyday driving. But the light steering doesn’t provide enough driver feedback, and when driven aggressively, the Q4’s ride quality might be a little firm for some.
The Q4’s cabin offers plenty of headroom and legroom for all passengers. The interior layout is attractive and - typical for Audi - fit, finish, and materials quality are first-rate. An 11.6-inch touch screen is conveniently tilted slightly toward the driver, and the HVAC controls have physical buttons and are easy to use. Interior storage is good, with cavernous pockets on both front-door panels, and all Q4s are equipped with a complete set of advanced safety features.
Complaints about the Q4 are few but might raise some eyebrows. Its maximum range of 258 miles is mildly range-anxiety-inducing, for example, especially for an EV this pricey. Ventilated seats aren’t available, rear visibility is restricted by the back-seat headrests, and its 240-volt charging time is relatively slow.
