The Trans-Canada Highway/Voyageur Route (PR 17) parallels the scenic northern shoreline of Lake Superior. The land is dotted with numerous lakes and rivers in this once-glaciated region. Shady forests climb the lower mountain elevations, giving way to red- and gray-hued granite peaks. Provincial parks invite you to take a moment to experience the natural beauty.

Paralleling Lake Superior's north shore, this section of the Trans-Canada Highway (PR 17) opens up to a number of fantastic lake views. Pink and gray granite of the Canadian Shield underlies the rolling, rocky hills that are heavily wooded with pine and birch. Spectacular views are available of the mountains north of Lake Superior.
