The Upper Delaware Scenic Byway (SR 97) matches the twists and curves of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River, which forms a meandering boundary between New York and Pennsylvania. Distant mountains hover beyond the tree-lined byway, and dense wooded areas break open into gorgeous vistas of the river and surrounding valley.

New York's SR 97 slips beside the Delaware River, offering stunning river vistas and views of colorful foliage in the fall. Swift areas of the river are perfect for rafting; calm portions are ideal for canoeing and fishing. Look for white-tailed deer and bald eagles along the route. A twisting section known as Hawk’s Nest offers a scenic overlook that’s worth a stop.
