19.2 miles: 21 minutes
While it takes place entirely on dry land, this awesome marine journey showcases the raw beauty of both the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay. Plus, you'll zip past commercial, military and personal watercraft parading through one of the world's busiest shipping channels. Of course, there's not much to see during the 2 miles you're driving through the underwater tunnels.

Officially named the Lucius J. Kellam Jr. Bridge-Tunnel in honor of the individual who was instrumental in making it a reality, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel is the largest bridge-tunnel complex in the world. Opened in 1964, the 23-mile extension connects Virginia Beach to Cape Charles and includes four man-made islands and two mile-long underwater tunnels. A $13-$15 toll is charged.
