Whidbey Scenic Isle Way Road Trip

Two state parks, Mukilteo and Deception Pass, are excellent locations to enjoy views of Puget Sound. The Olympic Mountains and the Cascades, on the mainland, line the horizon above the sparkling waters surrounding Whidbey Island. Whidbey Scenic Isle Way winds its way along the length of the narrow island just northeast of Seattle.

At Mukilteo, the byway's southernmost point, take a ferry ride across Puget Sound. SR 525/20 takes you along the spine of Whidbey Island, twisting through open fields and forests and offering glimpses of Skagit Bay and the mountains beyond. Enter Deception Pass State Park and drive a short way through old-growth forest to take in the view from Deception Pass Bridge.
