In northwest South Carolina, the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway is a slower-paced alternative to I-85. The western portion of the byway runs through the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and SR 11 goes by several state parks. When in season, the eastern portion of the route features fruit stands full of locally grown produce.

Driving down SR 11, travelers will not only be treated to views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, they will get to journey across Lake Keowee, which appears to sneak behind the trees for miles. On the eastern side of the byway, local purveyors sell fresh peaches from nearby orchards during summer months at their fruit stands.
