Hardwood forests, moss-draped cypress and live oak trees, cattle ranches, horse farms and small towns are common sites on the (mostly) two-lane Scenic Sumter Heritage Byway. The Florida National Veterans Cemetery, just off of SR 4768B in Bushnell, is among the largest in the nation.

Northwest of Orlando and south of Ocala, the Scenic Sumter Heritage Byway is proof that Florida is more than just beaches and theme parks. The route, SR 50/CR 478/CR 673/CR 76/US 301/CR 470/SR 44, meanders from Mabel, FL to the Withlacoochee River across the native landscape of the Florida interior, alternating between lightly wooded rangelands and cypress swamplands.
