The Capitol Reef National Park Scenic Drive rides along a ridge of incredible white rock formations resembling capitol building domes formed by a giant buckle in the topography called the Waterpocket Fold. At dawn and dusk, the sandstone canyons are illuminated in brilliant shades of orange, red and earthy brown. At the park entrance, the Fremont River supports a host of plant and animal life.
