The trek along Arizona's Kayenta-Monument Valley Scenic Road through the Navajo reservation reveals fantastic scenery that demands to be recorded as a favorite memory or photograph. Massive rocky formations rise from the ground like smokestacks on an ocean liner floating on a siltstone sea. As the sun chariots across the sky, the rocks’ shadows grow long and their soft brown faces blush red and pink.

Drive through the Navajo Indian Reservation, which envelops US 163 in Arizona. You may recognize the route’s red sandstone mesas as the backdrop to many western films. El Capitan, a giant monolith created from volcanic rock, forms a striking silhouette. Spiral rock formations, arches and buttes rise from Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park’s Mystery Valley.
