A mantle of snow graces the bare shoulders of the Kluane Range mountains, part of the St. Elias Mountains west of the Haines Highway (PR 3). Hillsides draped in lush green velvet slope toward the British Columbia border inside the Kluane National Park and Reserve. Stop at pullouts to experience the quiet grandeur of the mountains, valleys and lakes.

Haines Highway (PR 3) makes its way through forests of white spruce, alder and poplar; the alpine ranges of the St. Elias Mountains dominate the background. Pullouts at aquamarine lakes Kathleen and Dezadeash allow for jaw-dropping views of 8,000-foot peaks in the distance. Mountain goats, Dall sheep, moose and black bears make their homes in this serene wilderness.
