65.2 miles: 2 hours, 48 minutes
Seasonal route: The road is subject to closure in winter. A few miles from the Yukon River ferry, ascend to the top of mountain ridges above the timberline on the Top of the World Scenic Highway (PR 9). Enjoy this expansive mountainous panorama on the well-maintained paved and gravel roadway. Although the trees remain green in the Yukon's early arriving fall, the brush explodes with color. Note: The road opens from mid-May to September, closing after the first snowfall.

The sparse woodlands near the tree line of this mountainous region allow for an unusually expansive panorama that account for the name of the Top of the World Scenic Highway (PR 9). The brush turns vibrant colors—crimson, orange and yellow—in fall. Nine miles out of Dawson City, Yukon, a short trail leads to spectacular views of mountains and the Yukon River. Although the route consists of well-maintained paved and gravel roads, go slow on the steep, twisting descent into Alaska.
