Cottonwood Falls was founded as a busy agricultural and livestock center in the late 1850s. It is home to the French Renaissance-style Chase County Courthouse, built in 1873. Constructed of locally mined limestone, the courthouse features a mansard roof, dormer windows and a cupola. Still in use, it was designed by John G. Haskell, who also designed the Kansas capitol building in Topeka. Guided tours of the courthouse are available; phone the chamber at (620) 273-8469. Learn More...
