Scattered across counties in Montana and South Dakota, Custer National Forest encompasses nearly 1.3 million acres in three unique districts. The mountainous section, or Beartooth District, includes a portion of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness and Granite Peak, the highest point in Montana.
