In southeastern Arizona, Fort Huachuca (wa-CHOO-ka) was founded in 1877 to combat raids by Native Americans and outlaws. In 1954 the fort became the site of the Army Electronic Proving Ground. The 73,272-acre fort is headquarters of the U.S. Army Information Systems Command, the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and various other military organizations.
