In south-central Indiana, the more than 200,000-acre Hoosier National Forest offers many miles of scenic driving over back-country hills; the roads are particularly beautiful in the autumn and spring. Principal recreation areas are Hardin Ridge on Monroe Lake and Celina, Indian and Tipsaw lakes. The forest has more than 239 miles of hiking, mountain biking and horse trails.
