Comprised of three districts north and south of Grand Canyon National Park, Kaibab National Forest covers 1.6 million acres. The portion north of the canyon includes Grand Canyon National Game Preserve, a thickly forested, domed limestone plateau. The Kaibab Plateau is the only known home of the Kaibab squirrel, a dark gray squirrel with a white tail and tufted ears.
