Founded in 1859 at the confluence of the Pilchuck and Snohomish rivers, Snohomish's rich history is reflected in its homes and commercial buildings. The residential area north of 2nd Street has some substantial Victorians, and a number of 19th-century buildings along 1st Street and the riverbank have been restored. The Snohomish County Tourism Bureau Visitor Center, a replica of a turn-of-the-20th-century railroad station, provides an interpretive exhibit and a 10-minute video about the town's history.
