Washington Crossing Historic Park is divided into two areas: the Upper Park (Thompson's Mill Section) is 1.5 miles southeast of New Hope via SR 32, and the Lower Park (McConkey's Ferry Section) is 5 miles farther south on SR 32. A bridge crosses the Delaware River and allows visitors to enter New Jersey's Washington Crossing State Park. The 500-acre park is dedicated to the memory of George Washington and the 2,400 soldiers who crossed the Delaware on Christmas night in 1776 to attack and capture Trenton, N.J., then garrisoned by Hessian soldiers. A re-enactment of the crossing of the Delaware is held at 1 p.m. on Christmas. Other events are presented throughout the year. Picnicking is permitted. Learn More...
