Wind River Indian Reservation spans 2.2 million acres in western Wyoming; the tribal information office is at 15 North Fork Rd. in Fort Washakie. Of different linguistic stock and cultural background, the Shoshone and Arapaho tribes occupy different sections of the reservation. The graves of Chief Washakie and of Sacajawea, as well as the Shoshone Cultural Center, which offers displays and tours, are in Fort Washakie.
