Atlanta EventsIn addition to the city's many cultural and historic landmarks, this destination hosts a number of outstanding festivals and events that may coincide with your visit. If your travel dates are flexible, you can take advantage of the many fun places to go. Here's a sampling of things to do in Atlanta when you plan your trip.
When little white flower clusters start blooming on dogwood trees, you know spring has come to Atlanta. There's really no better way to celebrate than to attend the Dogwood Festival at Piedmont Park in early April. The arts and crafts festival has taken place since 1936 at the beginning of spring, when the trees are at their prettiest. In addition to a chance to admire the delicate blooms, the event offers many fun things to do with friends, including an artists' market, hot air balloon floats and a disc dog competition.
Things to Do: Celebrate Spring, Jazz and More
Auburn Avenue is the venue for Sweet Auburn Springfest in early May, offering entertainment on 10 stages, the Children's Fantastic Fun Zone, a food court and a marketplace. The Atlanta Jazz Festival , in late May, features international artists and offers a range of activities in the metro area.
The Peachtree Road Race 10K , a 10-kilometer event in which 60,000 runners participate, takes place July 4 in downtown Atlanta.
The destination draws lots of visitors when the ACC and SEC square off in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl , one of the top bowl games in college football. The event takes place in December.
