About BourbonnaisBourbonnais, just north of Kankakee, was one of the first settlements along the Kankakee River. The town has enjoyed a French flavor since the establishment of a French trading post in 1832 led to an influx of French Canadians.

The home of George LeTourneau, the first mayor of Bourbonnais, has been restored and is now the headquarters for the Bourbonnais Grove Historical Society.
