More About
Cabazon, CA

About CabazonDon’t blink or you’ll miss this tiny town about 15 miles west of Palm Springs. Keep your eyes open and you’ll find yourself in a scene right out of “Jurassic Park.” The colossal Tyrannosaurus rex and apatosaurus easily visible from I-10 are no mirages; these landmarks are the welcoming committee for World's Biggest Dinosaurs, a small museum where kids can dig for fossils; phone (951) 922-8700.

The town’s namesake, Chief Cabazon, was the leader of the Desert Cachilla Indians for 4 decades, beginning in the 1830s. The Cabazon Reservation once totaled some 2,400 acres before the Southern Pacific railroad claimed one-third of the land.

ShoppingDesert Hills Premium Outlets and the smaller Cabazon Outlets are a pair of popular malls on Seminole Drive with some 150 discount stores between them. You’ll find designer duds, shoes, accessories and jewelry from such brand names as Armani, Coach, Gucci and Le Creuset.
