About CassvilleIn the 1830s the Mississippi River community of Cassville was among several towns that vied for the status of territorial capital. It lost, but continued its existence as grain port and trading center for the surrounding farms.
Cassville Car Ferry, which departs from the Prime Street landing, makes trips across the Mississippi River to Turkey River Landing, near Millville, Iowa. The ferry operates daily Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day; Friday through Sunday in spring and fall. One-way fare is $2; $5 (with bicycle); $8 (with motorcycle); $15 (with private vehicle).
