Chadds Ford is in the Brandywine Valley where the Revolutionary War engagement, the Battle of Brandywine, occurred. Chadds Ford also is home to the Wyeth family of artists. A river walk connects the Brandywine River Museum of Art with the circa 1725 John Chads House . The 1714 Barns-Brinton Tavern & House is nearby. Tours of the homes are given Sat. 11-3, Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, and by appointment. Contact the Chadds Ford Historical Society Barn Visitors Center , 1736 N. The visitor center, which was built to resemble the types of historic barns found in the area, has a small museum with a combination of permanent and temporary exhibits pertaining to local history.
