DescriptionOn this site in 1540 Hernando de Soto discovered Coosa, a Creek Indian capital and sacred peace town. Since European settlement in the early 19th century, Childersburg has evolved into a lumber and farm community with paper manufacturing and recycling as its major industry. Just north is Kymulga Grist Mill Park and the 105-foot Kymulga Covered Bridge, which was built in the 1860s and spans Talladega Creek.
