More About
Eureka Springs, AR

About Eureka SpringsThe waters around Eureka Springs had been touted for alleged medicinal powers by Native Americans and settlers alike long before Dr. Alvah Jackson established a clinic in the area in 1850. By the late 1870s a busy resort had developed; the arrival of the railroad in 1883 made the spa more accessible, and the sick and weary came great distances to be healed.

Modern medicine caused a drastic decline in the use of the springs, but recreational and artistic businesses have kept the city alive. Eureka Springs offers a variety of activities that cater to both body and mind. Music shows abound throughout the year. The annual Eagle Watch, the third weekend in October, draws thousands of visitors from a four-state region.
