More About
Green River, UT

About Green RiverGreen River was settled as a mail relay station in 1878 on the site where it was easiest to ford the river. Today it is the center of a melon-growing region.

Crystal Geyser is 5 miles east via US 6/50 to the I-70 overpass, then 7 miles south on a gravel road. The unpredictable eruptions of this rare cold-water geyser can reach as high as 100 feet, though they more typically top out at less than 10 feet. The gravel road to the geyser is in good condition but is not well marked.

About 45 miles west of Green River on I-70, Wedge Overlook affords a view of the San Rafael River 1,000 feet below. The panorama across the San Rafael Swell consists of an impressive 30-by-60-mile hollowed-out red dome marked with buttes, gorges and canyons.
