About GreybullGreybull derives its name from a local Native American legend that claimed a great albino buffalo once roamed the area. The Native Americans revered the bull, considering it a sign from their Great Spirit. Native American arrowheads, fossils and semiprecious stones can be found around town. The site of widespread oil and mineral activity, Greybull recently has focused its attention on bentonite mining.
Scenic attractions in the vicinity include Shell Canyon and Falls, 24 miles east of US 14, and the drive over the Bighorn Mountains via scenic US 14 to Sheridan. Devil's Kitchen, a few miles northeast, and Sheep Mountain to the north are interesting geological formations.
