At the base of the mountains nestled in a wooded environment, The Dining Room at Jenny Lake Lodge is noted for its flawless food preparation—and, of course, spectacular Teton views. An upscale experience awaits you at this rustically elegant lodge offering inventive local fare complemented by an extensive wine list. The five-course prix fixe dinner, served by an attentive staff, may include such delights as elk carpaccio, pancetta-wrapped pork tenderloin and caramel pumpkin cheesecake. Peaks Restaurant at Signal Mountain Lodge offers another stunning panorama of Jackson Lake and the pinnacles beyond. Enjoy the comfortably rustic ambience as you savor innovative, “environmentally sustainable” food options. The health-conscious menu touts fare that is organically grown, raised and caught, from free-range beef to Alaskan salmon—and you can top off your meal with dark-roasted, organic coffee.
Approximately 16 miles east of the Moran junction park entrance, you'll discover Grizzly Grill & Red Fox Saloon at Togwotee Mountain Lodge . Making the trip is half the fun, as you'll travel on a route over the Continental Divide with stellar scenery and bountiful wildlife-sighting opportunities. On Wednesday nights in winter, a seafood buffet includes shrimp, crab legs and other fresh fish.
Places to Eat in Jackson, WY
Jackson, the epicenter of activity with plenty of shops, sports outfitters and nightspots, has several enticing nearby restaurants.
Locals like to gather at Bubba's Bar-B-Que Restaurant for its down-home barbecue and generous salad bar. Beef, pork and chicken are hickory smoked until tender and accompanied by made-from-scratch sides and sauces concocted from old Southern recipes. If you can manage dessert, try a slice of homemade pie. The picnic-table seating and fast service is well suited for families as well as for skiers fresh off the slopes. Expect long waits during peak season.
Just off the town square, Merry Piglets Mexican Grill is a fun, family friendly place. Colorful decorations and a lively vibe only serve to enhance the flavorsome cooked-to-order entrées. Try the fire-roasted fajitas, one of the innovative Tex-Mex plates or a wrap packed to the brim with mouthwatering ingredients. Of course, the requisite tacos, burritos and enchiladas are always crowd pleasers, along with just-made tortilla chips and guacamole. The beans—soaked overnight and lard-free—are not only tasty, but healthy.
Snake River Grill presents Jackson diners with an upscale, yet comfortable evening. Have a cocktail in the intimate lounge, and then enter a stylish dining room with 3-D artwork on the ceiling. Share one of the pizza appetizers baked in a wood-burning oven, then order fresh fish, free-range chicken or regional game like grilled lamb, buffalo and elk. The wine list touts award-winning vintages to complement your meal. Ask for a table on the restaurant's balcony if you want to witness the staged gunfights and other summertime antics occurring on the town square. During winter, savor the warmth of a roaring fire in the massive stone fireplace.
Restaurants in Teton Village
Teton Village, base camp for skiers flocking to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and for summer visitors seeking mountain splendor, offers a diverse spectrum of establishments.
The bar at Mangy Moose Restaurant & Saloon is a legendary après ski hangout, but the adjacent restaurant delivers in terms of offering a family friendly atmosphere. Grab a table by the wall of windows overlooking the mountain's challenging ski runs, or relax inside a dining room accented by funky bric-a-brac, including moose heads and nostalgic pieces. An impressive salad bar kicks off your meal, which might include such temptations as buffalo meatloaf, filet mignon with béarnaise sauce, grilled halibut or citrus trout.
At the Westbank Grill in the Four Seasons Resort & Residences Jackson Hole , you'll relish expertly prepared regional foods complemented by upscale presentation and service. The open kitchen and inviting décor of wood, leather and exposed beams creates a casually elegant ambience. Sophisticated entrées with a Western flair can include espresso-rubbed venison and pepper-crusted buffalo tenderloin. Reserve a table by the fireplace on a brisk fall evening, or dine on the heated outdoor terrace amid a backdrop of inspiring Teton peaks.
