About KingsburgKingsburg was established in 1875 by the Southern Pacific Railroad. A wave of Swedish emigrants in the late 19th century influenced the local architecture; a number of restored buildings date back to the early 1900s and feature steep, wood-shingled roofs, dormer windows and half-timbers.
Raisin grapes and other fruits are grown in the San Joaquin Valley's fertile soil; Sun-Maid Growers maintains a processing facility in Kingsburg. In keeping with its heritage, the town water tower takes the shape of a giant coffee pot, colorfully decorated in a traditional Swedish motif. This local landmark is illuminated at night.
