Kōloa blossomed after the first sugar mill on the island was erected in 1835. Its port, Kōloa Landing, rivaled Honolulu and Lahaina as a storage depot for whaling ships. The sugar mill no longer exists, and Kōloa, with its false-front buildings, seems a remnant from another time. Learn More...
