About LexingtonFormed in 1785, Lexington was named for the Massachusetts town where the first battle of the Revolutionary War was fought. However, this Lexington was not as quick to embrace the Patriot cause. The area's population, largely of German descent, was loyal to England's German king George III and his Lutheran queen, Charlotte Sophia. The settlers finally did join their fellow colonists late in the war.
