About MarshfieldMarshfield once was a railroad hub with 50 trains stopping daily, as hotels were crowded with passengers awaiting connections to go "out West" or "back East." In the early days of the Marshfield Clinic, one of the country's largest medical clinics, physicians rode the trains to serve patients in smaller outlying communities.
At the junction of Vine Avenue and East 17th Street is the Central Wisconsin State Fair Round Barn, reputed to be the largest round barn in existence.
Hiking, bicycling, camping and swimming are popular during summer. In winter Marshfield provides ample opportunity for cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and hunting. Marshfield Motor Speedway, 10853 CR H, is host to stock car races; phone (715) 533-0796 or (715) 384-8325.
