Travel TipsMiami's average annual temperature is a balmy 76 degrees. December through March is delightful, with daytime highs in the mid-70s, comfortable lows around 60 and little rain. The destination is hot and humid the rest of the year. June through September can be sweltering, with daytime temperatures averaging around 90. Ocean breezes temper the heat along the coast.

What to Pack for Miami-Miami Beach

The sun's ultraviolet rays are insidiously strong, especially when reflected off the water. Wear sunscreen-an SPF rating of at least 15 is recommended (and a hat).

Thunderstorms are common from May through October. Carry an umbrella to be prepared for sudden showers, but do not swim or walk outside when there's lightning. Severe storms and hurricanes are unlikely but do occur. The hurricane season lasts from June through November.

Lightweight resort wear is appropriate almost everywhere although there are ample opportunities to dress up. A light sweater is handy in some air-conditioned interiors, such as hotels or local restaurants.
