About MidlandThe development of Midland from a lumber town into a handsome, well-planned and culturally active city is entwined with the growth of the Dow Chemical Co. Large brine deposits precipitated the establishment of the company in Midland.
The Tridge , a three-legged pedestrian bridge, is at the confluence of the Tittabawassee and Chippewa rivers. The Pere Marquette Rail-Trail provides 30 miles of paved hiking trails between the Tridge and Clare. The riverfront area also features picnic facilities, a spray park, walking trails, an outdoor concert park and a farmers market.
