About MishawakaBisected by the meandering St. Joseph River, Mishawaka is home to Bethel College, a Christian liberal arts college established in 1947, and AM General's 673,000-square-foot Hummer H2 Assembly Plant, which opened in 2002. The growing city also offers a number of recreational sites and facilities. The community's oldest park, Battell Park, 301 W. Mishawaka Ave., has a Civil War memorial and a historic bandshell where summer concerts and theatrical productions are held. Picnic tables, tennis and basketball courts, and a playground also are on the grounds.
