DescriptionThe Lenni-Lenape first called the Delaware Valley home until the 1700s when early European settlers, notably the Dutch, arrived fleeing religious persecution. Its proximity to Philadelphia helped increase the city's growth. The New Jersey Turnpike and I-295 both go through the community.
Laurel Acres Park, 1045 S. Church St., with its lake and grassy hill provide recreational opportunities such as fishing and, in winter, sledding. Concerts occur at the park, mainly in July and August. There's also a Veterans Memorial on-site. Phone (856) 234-0001, ext. 1220.
