About NapaneeIn 1786 the government built a gristmill in what is now Napanee for the Loyalist settlers who fled America after the Revolutionary War. Allan MacPherson, who rented the mill, was so successful in his trade that he launched Napanee's water-powered industrial boom of the 1800s.
