About North AdamsOnce a thriving industrial and railroad center, North Adams is now a popular stop-off point along the scenic Mohawk Trail (SR 2) , which winds through the Berkshire Mountains and follows the Deerfield River eastward to Greenfield. The “Hail to the Sunrise” monument in Charlemont commemorates the trail's Native American origins. Williamstown is the western terminus of the route.
