About Oak ParkA suburb 9 miles west of Chicago, Oak Park reputedly is one of the world's largest communities that is governed as a village. It has been the home of several noted figures, including authors Ernest Hemingway, born in Oak Park in 1899, and Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Frank Lloyd Wright lived and worked in Oak Park 1889-1909, developing his distinctive Prairie style of architecture. There are 33 Wright-designed structures in the Oak Park area. The Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie School of Architecture Historic District features a guided walking tour highlighting 7 of Wright's creations.
