About PalestineIn the 1840s it was discovered that the seat of Anderson County, Houston (not the major city of Harris County), was 2 miles off center. Literally obeying the legislature's guidelines that a county seat be at the center of the county, local residents constructed Palestine.
Pronounced “palas-teen,” the town has old-fashioned charm, with Victorian and pioneer houses dating from 1849. The business area has preserved many of its original buildings.

AAA’s in-person hotel evaluations are unscheduled to ensure the inspector has an experience similar to that of members. To pass inspection, all hotels must meet the same rigorous standards for cleanliness, comfort and hospitality. These hotels receive a AAA Diamond designation that tells members what type of experience to expect.
