More About
Pascagoula, MS

About PascagoulaPascagoula is the birthplace of singer/songwriter and chief Parrothead Jimmy Buffett. Although Buffett's lyrics more often rhapsodize about the Florida Keys, this Gulf of Mexico town has a similar beach vibe. Not surprisingly, the area offers good freshwater and saltwater fishing year-round.

The Pascagoula River is called the Singing River because of the occasional eerie sound that is best heard on still evenings in late summer and autumn. Legend claims it is the death chant of a Pascagoula tribe that committed mass suicide in the river's waters rather than submit to defeat at the hands of the Biloxi Indians.
