About RedlandsNamed for the color of the local soil, Redlands once was an important packing and distribution point for citrus fruit. Today the 4,700-student University of Redlands plays an important role in the life of the area; its campus occupies approximately 160 acres northeast of the city center. Redlands also is known for its carefully restored Victorian houses.
